Tyler J. Bates


 yler is an associate attorney with core experience in insurance defense litigation including construction defects, commercial motor vehicle fatalities, catastrophic injuries, and medical malpractice.  Tyler’s experience includes handling large, complex construction defect claims through the American Arbitration Association.  His construction defect experience includes lawsuits involving commercial and residential properties, as well as rapid deployment and media control following construction disasters.

Tyler received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan.  From there, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he received his Juris Doctorate from The University of New Mexico School of Law.  While in law school, Tyler externed for Justice Richard Bosson at the New Mexico Supreme Court.  He also served as the submissions editor for the Natural Resources Journal, the nation’s oldest law school journal focusing on natural resource matters.  Prior to joining the Firm, Tyler practiced at an insurance defense litigation firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  There he specialized in construction defect, commercial motor vehicle fatality, and catastrophic injury litigation.

Tyler grew up as a natural competitor as a defender in soccer and running middle distance in track.  While in New Mexico he dabbled in the film industry where he was a photo double and stand-in for Chris Hemsworth in Thor, and a stand-in for Jeremy Renner in The Avengers.  Now he takes advantage of the nature of the Mountain West and enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing.
