Ryan Williams


yan Williams, a Firm shareholder, brings a wealth of trial, civil litigation and risk management experience to The Hustead Law Firm, specifically in the areas of construction and real estate litigation. Ryan is a Martindale-Hubbell AV-Rated® attorney, and a recognized leader among Colorado insurance defense attorneys.

Ryan began his legal career by clerking for the Hon. JoAnn L. Vogt of the Colorado Court of Appeals, where he researched and wrote on a broad range of legal topics, including commercial and real estate disputes, insurance law, and corporate, shareholder and fiduciary responsibilities. He then moved to a prominent Denver business firm, where he specialized in construction, and real estate litigation.

Throughout his practice, Ryan has represented clients in real estate litigation, construction defect matters, bankruptcy litigation, employment litigation, and commercial disputes in both federal and state courts. He has successfully tried numerous jury and court trials, and has extensive appellate experience, having successfully argued before both the Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court. Among his notable accomplishments is a published decision by the Colorado Supreme Court concerning the applicability of certain provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Act of Colorado to construction professionals. This wide ranging experience allows Ryan to effectively represent clients at all stages of litigation. In his current capacity, Ryan continues to practice primarily in the areas of construction defect and commercial litigation. He partners with both national and regional insurers to work towards the effective resolution of claims in these areas.

Ryan attended Chapman University School of Law in Orange County, California, where he graduated in the top 15% of his class. He was a member of the Chapman Law Review, and received the American Jurisprudence Award in both Torts and Civil Procedure. Upon graduation, Ryan was bestowed with the Chapman Award for Ethical Character, an award voted upon by his peers.

Ryan is admitted to practice in the state courts in both Colorado and California, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and the Central and Eastern Districts of California. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, and the Denver Bar Association.

Ryan and his wife Cortney have lived in Colorado since 2002, and have two children. Ryan enjoys hiking Colorado’s high peaks, mountain biking and skiing.
