ichael Potraffke is an Associate Attorney at the Hustead Law Firm. Michael spent the beginning of his legal career in Bloomington, Indiana at a U.S. News & World Report Tier 1 Best Law Firm, where he litigated cases involving product liability, premises liability, personal injury, defamation, construction, and various commercial disputes on behalf of clients and insurers. Michael also has experience in intellectual property matters and business transactions.

Michael was admitted to the Indiana State Bar in 2012 and also holds admissions to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. Michael moved to Denver in 2017, and he is currently practicing law in Colorado under temporary authorization pursuant to C.R.C.P. 205.6 while his full bar admission is pending.

Michael earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 2009 with majors in English and Political Science and a minor in music studies from Indiana University’s prestigious Jacobs School of Music. Michael then earned his J.D. from the Indiana University – Bloomington Maurer School of Law, where he graduated in the top third of the 2012 class.

Michael is a member of numerous bar associations as well as the Phi Delta Phi legal honors fraternity. Michael has also spent time volunteering as a judge for the Indiana University Maurer School of Law Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition and as a guest speaker for the Indiana Kids’ Election program. In his free time, Michael enjoys golf, tennis, and music and is an avid Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan.
